At Foot and Ankle Center of Iowa, our mission has always extended beyond the walls of our clinic. We believe that when providers grow, patients benefit—and that’s why Dr. Mindi Dayton and Dr. Paul Dayton established the Central Iowa Foot Club: a collaborative forum for podiatrists in our region to come together in the spirit of continual learning, shared experience, and better outcomes for the patients we all serve.
A Vision Rooted in Shared Purpose
The Central Iowa Foot Club was created with a clear purpose: to bring like-minded foot and ankle specialists together to advance care through case-based discussion, education on emerging research, and the exchange of ideas and best practices. As physicians, we recognize that the best care doesn’t come from doing things a certain way just because “it’s what we’ve always done.” It comes from staying curious, open, and committed to the evolution of medicine.
What We've Covered So Far
Our sessions have been dynamic and inspiring, drawing engagement from providers across Central Iowa. To date, topics have included:
State-of-the-art wound care, with an emphasis on advanced grafting techniques and biologics
Bunion surgery updates, especially in complex presentations involving arthritis or metatarsus adductus
Open discussions around surgical planning, patient selection, and outcome optimization
These meetings are not lectures—they are interactive, collegial exchanges where questions are welcomed, perspectives are shared, and everyone walks away with actionable insights.
What’s Next
We’re excited to continue building on this momentum. Upcoming sessions will explore:
Supplementation and integrative wellness to support holistic healing and long-term patient outcomes
Innovative surgical instrumentation that’s changing the way we approach precision in the OR
Complex topics like Charcot reconstruction and best practices in treating patients with diabetic limb deformity
Each meeting is an opportunity not just to teach or learn, but to raise the bar for what podiatric care can look like in our region.
Why This Matters
In a time when medicine is advancing rapidly, we believe strongly in the importance of not relying solely on tradition or outdated training. Instead, we strive to seek out the latest evidence, evaluate new technologies, and adapt to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
By continuing to learn, challenge one another, and innovate together, we’re helping ensure that patients across Central Iowa have access to the most current, evidence-based, and compassionate foot and ankle care possible.
Whether you're a provider looking to get involved or a patient who wants to know you're in skilled, forward-thinking hands—know that we’re committed to every step of your journey.
